Installing WELSIM on Linux

WELSIM has released the Linux version in March 2018, with initial support for Ubuntu 16.04 and Fedora 27. Here’s how to install WELSIM on your Linux OS.

Step 1: Download and Make Executable

  1. Download the latest copy of the Linux version from the website WELSIM.

  2. Open a terminal window and navigate to the directory containing the installer file, then run the following commands:

    chmod +x WelSim15Setup.run
    ./WelSim15Setup.run
    

Step 2: Installation Wizard

Soon, an installation wizard will pop up.

Step 3: Directory Selection

Click the “Next” button. You’ll be prompted to enter the installation directory; you can use the default path shown in the text field.

Step 4: Module Selection

After clicking “Next,” you'll be asked to choose the modules for installation. The “WELSIM” module will be selected by default.

Step 5: License Agreement

Review the licensing agreement and click the “Next” button to proceed.

You will then confirm the module and the size of the installation.

Completion

In a few seconds, the installation will complete.

Running WELSIM

After installation, navigate to the installation folder in the terminal and run:

chmod +x runWelSim.sh
./runWelSim.sh

You should now see the graphical user interface of WELSIM running on your Linux OS.

It appears that installing WELSIM on a Linux OS is straightforward.
